The Rocks Aroma Festival 2009

The Rocks Aroma Festival 2009 hits Sydney this weekend. There will be plenty of opportunities to taste the best from Australia & the rest of the world when it comes to coffee. Try delicious coffees for just $2 a cup from some of Sydney’s favourite roasters including Toby’s Estate, Piazza D’Oro, Vella Nero, Grinders, Karmee and Yukk.

This year you can also indulge in the exotic tastes of chocolate, tea, chai and spice at The Rocks. There will be plenty of free entertainment, music and even camel rides. The historic streets of The Rocks will be a caffeine-lovers heaven as Australia’s biggest coffee festival takes over with more than 100 stalls and a Domestic Coffee Machine Expo. With so much to choose from, you can discover new and out-of-the-ordinary delights all in the one scenic location.

There is something to see and do around every corner in The Rocks. Catching public transport to The Rocks is simple and there is also car parking nearby.

Festival of Voices 2009

The 2009 Festival of Voices is here! From the 9th July until 12th July 2009 the Festival welcomes singers, guest artists and audiences from across the world to Hobart, home of Australia’s only annual festival of choirs.

The Festival of Voices was established in 2005. It is Australia’s only annual Festival of choirs and Tasmania’s premier winter arts event. In 2008 more then 30 choirs travelled from across Australia to take part in the Festival. Participants attended concerts, performances and workshops across the city and more than two thousand people gathered under the night sky for the Festival Bonfire and Big Sing. In 2009 the Festival has attracted even greater numbers of choirs and visitors and a line-up of national and international guest artists to thrill audiences and workshop participants alike.

The Festival of Voices is a place for Singing, Performing and Learning. The Festival is inclusive, collaborative and non-competitive with opportunities for everyone.

Design Victoria – The Case for Export

Design Victoria is pleased to announce the launch of its new publication “The Case for Export” which aims to provide a collection of case studies featuring emerging and established designers who share their insight regarding their expansion into the overseas market.

A collection of case studies featuring designers and agencies that have taken an export path, The Case for Export provides insight into some of the skills required to export design, including some of the opportunities available and pitfalls to avoid. It also includes tips for exporting and a comprehensive list of guides, grants and assistance offered by government and business associations, making it a valuable resource to assist emerging and established designers to export with confidence.

Geelong Scarf Festival 2009

A visual and tactile art-based installation of hand-crafted scarves that embody The Scarf Festival’s theme of “Transformation”. Complemented by works from local and national textile artists who represent the best in contemporary art, craft and design, Transformation offers a visual celebration of the diverse textures and techniques employed to create that must-have winter accessory – the scarf.

The Scarf Festival will have two central components: The Transformation Showcase, exhibiting an array of beautiful, unique hand-made scarves. The other component of the festival will be the workshops and events. Most of the scarves will be available for purchase from the Museum Shop.

Featuring a wide array of Western Australian handmade art, jewellery, clothing and more, this is an unmissable winter event and the place to pick up fantastic fashions and gifts from local makers.

Made on the Left is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 2008 by independent designers with the intention of supporting Western Australian creative talent. Their aim is to support all creative designers and events showcasing independent labels.

From desperate housewives to rampaging teenage anarchists, ‘the girls’ are up front in these stylistically brazen films by women directors from the sixties and early seventies.

The films brought together in Focus on Girls 24/7 each signal a unique creative vision behind the lens. The contradictory impulses of the modern woman are rendered on screen in bold, unfettered performances from the leading actresses.
