Newtown Designers Market wrap!

What a weekend to kick off the Newtown Designers Market. The markets are held on the third Sunday of every month. They give local designers the chance to show off there creative flair, & the public the chance to purchase handmade unique, one-off or limited edition dresses, t-shirts, jewellery, accessories, paintings & so much more.

Two Flat Whites made its way through the colourful streets of Newtown to the Town Hall, which is now home of the Newtown Designers Market. It was hard to fathom, that the design & arts hub of Sydney did not have a regular outlet for young talent to showcase there work. Well, worry no more; the Newtown Designers Markets’ are here to stay.

NEWTOWN DESIGNERS MARKET is an extension of Ku-türe.com, a leading online store specialising in one-off fashion, jewellery and accessories.   The creator of Ku-türe is Caroline Turner and here she is extending her love of all things special to the markets.  This time she is taking her sister, Liz along for the ride.  Fashion Design graduate, Caroline, works as an event manager while Liz, an ICU nurse has long nurtured the desire to give outlet to her own creative talents.

The organisers did a fantastic job in attracting some of our best talented young designers. The likes of Leeloo, Miss Abigail, Happy End Designs, Imok & Art By Design Exhibitions, all showing us why Newtown has been missing out for so long for such an event. Two Flat Whites had a chat to many of the designers, who by the way were there in person, right next to there creations. All of the designers were more than happy to provide an insight into each of there pieces & everyone was enjoying the venue & the day!

The Newtown Designers Market is free & boasts some of the best one-off garments, accessories & nick-naks to purchase, created by wonderfully talented Sydney designers. When you’re hungry after the markets, why not check out a restaurant or cafe for a light snack, coffee or dinner. There are an abundance of scrumptious eateries in inner city Newtown.
