Government getting involved with sport

THE Government has ordered the Australian cricket team’s tour of Zimbabwe be scrapped, Prime Minister John Howard has confirmed.

The Government through the foreign minister has written to the organisation of Cricket Australia instructing that the tour not go ahead. “We don’t do this lightly, but we are convinced that for the tour to go ahead there would be an enormous propaganda boost to the Mugabe regime”, Mr Howard has told the ABC.

Mmmmm, an interesting topic bearing its ugly head again! Should any government get in the way of sport? Does the Howard government have a right to stop the Australian Cricket Team from going to Zimbabwe?

Movie Review – ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’

I don’t know what it is but I love Bollywood movies. It may be the simplicity of the plots. It may be the colour, costumes, energy or the talented actors that seem to be coming through the ranks. It certainly might be all of the above!

I’ve seen a number of Bollywood movies. Some of the best have included Bride & Prejudice, Main Hoon Na & Provoked. None have been better than the latest Indian movie called ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’.

It’s a story of two couples in London, “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” is an energetic and entertaining romantic comedy, on the magic of falling in love and the difficulty of doing anything about it.

The costumes are bright & colourful. The dancing scenes are magical with plenty of enthusiasm. And finally, the actors, all very talented & no one more so than the beautiful young actress by the name of Preity Zinta.

Do yourself a favour & catch a Bollywood movie.

NSW need to look towards youth!

The third State of Origin game for 2007 is just around the corner. NSW have lost the series. It’s time to bite the bullet and prepare for next year. As a NSW fan I have been disappointed with the results to date. We need to make sweeping changes & make them now! Let’s prepare for next year with the focus on youth.

The first step should be speaking to the coach & requesting him to resign. We can then appoint Royce Simmonds as coach for the final game & request for our ex Origin stars such as Matt Johns, Andrew Johns, Brad Fittler, Paul Sironen and co to get involved in the camp & on match day. Then we need to look at the team.

My team focusing on a mix of experience & youth that would beat the Maroons would be as follows:-

Fullback – Brett Stewart
Wingers – Jarrod Hayne & Eric Grothe
Centres – Dean Collis & Matt King
Five-Eighth – Jarrod Mullin
Half-back – Brett Kimmorley
Lock – Ben Creagh
Second-row – Nathan Hindmarsh & Anthony LaFrancchi
Front-row – Mark O’Meley & Steve Simpson
Hooker – Danny Buderus
Reserves – Willie Mason, Robbie Farah, Keith Galloway & Bryce Gibbs.

We need more go forward & this pack would do the trick. Go the blues!
